The Silver Lineup

The Silver Lineup

Every circulation strike of the Kennedy Half Dollar, Washington Quarter and U.S. Dime — by year, by mint, with the silver years glowing gold.

Four rules of thumb — a half dollar dated 1964 is 90% silver; 1965–1970 halves are 40% silver; a quarter dated 1964 or earlier is 90% silver; any dime before 1965 is 90% silver
Everything newer is copper-nickel clad — no silver at all
Two layers of weight data — the official specification per era, and the weight each year's coins are actually published at
PCGS CoinFacts, the U.S. Mint, NGC and Numista don't always agree — the differences are exactly what a scale will show you
War nickels — 1942–1945 Jefferson nickels struck in 56% copper · 35% silver · 9% manganese, spotted by the large mint mark above Monticello

Weights checked against the U.S. Mint's own specifications, with real coin photos shown to true scale against each other (about 1.6× actual size).
